YouTube - Using an LD-1B and Winrad to receive and decode DRM

Using an LD-1B and Winrad to receive and decode DRM

Demonstration of DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale) reception using an LD-1B and Winrad. DRM is a form of digital modulation which allows shortwave broadcasts to be received without audible static or fading, and with audio quality approaching that of FM broadcasting.

While Winrad has a "DRM" button, it does NOT have an integral DRM decoder. A third party decoder (in this demo, the free DREAM decoder) must be provided by the user. Audio output from Winrad is "piped" via Virtual Audio Cable (VAC) from Winrad to Dream, and the user listens to the audio output from DREAM.

Using an LD-1B and Winrad to receive and decode PSK-31

Receiving PSK-31 using a Lazy Dog LD-1B SDR and Winrad. Digital Master 780 (DM-780) is used to demodulate PSK-31, and could just as easily be used to demodulate CW, RTTY, or any other "digital" mode.

Virtual Audio Cable is used to "pipe" the audio output from Winrad to the input of DM-780
